Kuwait added Artificial Intelligence as a compulsory subject for Grade 10 students in the 2025-2026 academic year as part of a broader classroom digitisation programme. The Grade 10 AI module covers problem-solving, data literacy, ethical use of AI, and basic machine learning concepts. The rollout is paired with deployment of over 5,125 new interactive screens across schools and a teacher upskilling programme developed with international partners.

Approximately 60% of classrooms had been digitised by the time of the programme’s launch. The initiative is aligned with Kuwait’s National AI Strategy 2025-2028 and the New Kuwait 2035 diversification agenda.

Who it affects: Grade 10 students across Kuwait’s public school system; teachers receiving upskilling support; school infrastructure broadly.

What is notably missing: The Grade 10 module covers only one year group; no evidence of a comprehensive national K-12 AI literacy curriculum spanning all levels. Teacher upskilling is supported but not mandated before classroom deployment. Ethics content is included in the Grade 10 module but no standalone ethics mandate exists.
