On March 4, 2026, UNESCO Amman Office and the Ministry of Education of Jordan officially launched the Education Strategic Plan (ESP) 2026–2030. The plan was developed following a Jordan Education Sector Analysis finalized in March 2025.
Key priorities of the ESP include:
- Strengthening foundational learning across all grade levels
- Advancing digital transformation in schools
- Enhancing teacher professional development
- Promoting inclusive and gender-responsive education
- Integrating green and climate-responsive practices
The digital transformation pillar explicitly includes integration of AI tools and digital skills into school curricula. The plan also includes provisions for teacher capacity-building in digital and AI-enabled pedagogy. As a national strategic plan adopted by the Ministry, it sets a policy direction toward AI curriculum integration and teacher training, though binding implementation standards have not yet been enacted.
The plan is backed by UNESCO technical support and aligns with Jordan’s wider National Digital Transformation Strategy 2026-2028 (already on record).
