From March 9–15, 2026, a strategic workshop on the refinement and readiness for national rollout of ICT Competency Standards for Teachers (ICT-CST) blended learning modules and AI integration for in-service teachers took place in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
The workshop was organized within the framework of the UNESCO project “Strengthening Competency-Based and ICT-Enabled STEM and VET Education and Teacher Training in Tajikistan,” funded by the European Union under the Quality Education Support Programme II.
Key outcomes:
- Participants finalized three online self-study courses covering AI-enabled teaching and assessment
- Strengthened LMS (learning management system) monitoring and learner support mechanisms
- Enhanced national trainers’ competencies in AI-enabled teaching
- Prepared the nationwide rollout planned for April–August 2026
The initiative supports the Ministry of Education and Science of Tajikistan and the Republican Institute for In-Service Teacher Training (RITTI) in advancing teacher digital competence, strengthening blended learning systems, and integrating AI responsibly into education.
This complements Project Soro (2025) and confirms that teacher AI training is progressing toward structured implementation with defined standards. The inclusion of defined online courses and verified national trainer competencies supports increased scoring for dimension 4 (teacher training mandated and funded) toward a full score of 2 if the April–August nationwide rollout is confirmed as mandatory.
