Learning.com has committed multi-millions of dollars to launch and scale a Next Generation AI Literacy initiative reaching 5 million K-12 students over four years through cloud platforms, statewide adoptions, and district pilots. The initiative includes 100,000 teacher professional development opportunities across participating states and districts. Participation is driven by district procurement decisions; no state or federal mandate requires schools to use the programme. The initiative targets the gap left by the absence of mandatory AI literacy policy in the United States.

Who it affects: Students and teachers in districts that choose to purchase or adopt the programme. Scale depends on sales and statewide contracts rather than policy requirements. The 5 million student target is contingent on commercial uptake.

What is notably missing: Content is determined by a private company with commercial interests in AI products, under no obligation to cover aspects of AI literacy that may be inconvenient for AI product vendors — including critical governance, bias, or accountability dimensions. There is no public accountability to educational standards or ethics requirements.
