The draft EU AI Literacy Framework, co-developed with the OECD and endorsed by the G7, will be finalised in 2026 following stakeholder consultations drawing from nearly 1,000 participants. The framework establishes benchmarks for school-aged children covering AI use, understanding, creation, and critical engagement, including an ethics component. Teacher training has emerged as the critical implementation bottleneck. The framework is guidance rather than binding law, but its G7 endorsement gives it weight as a reference standard for national curricula.
