Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission issued a binding notification requiring all public and private universities to offer a mandatory three-credit AI course for all undergraduate and postgraduate programmes starting Fall 2026. The course covers AI fundamentals, applications, ethics, governance, and data privacy. This makes Pakistan one of the first countries to mandate AI literacy as a universal requirement across all higher education disciplines, not only STEM fields.
