West Bengal AI smart classroom pilot and foundational AI courses

West Bengal launched an AI-driven smart classroom pilot in 10 schools with clicker-based apps for digital learning. Computer Shiksha (NGO) introduced a foundational AI course in 129 schools reaching 30,000 students from economically weaker sections through self-learning video modules (March 2026). The State Education Policy 2023 promotes AI-generated lessons in Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, English, and local dialects. Significant infrastructure barriers remain: fewer than 25 percent of schools have computers or internet access.
