Rio Grande do Sul uses AI for school dropout prevention and workforce training

The state government, in partnership with IBM, deployed an AI system to identify at-risk students and prevent school dropout. The project operates across the public school network with oversight from the Vice-Governor’s office and Education Secretary. Separately, the state negotiated a partnership with Salesforce to train 1.5 million people in digital skills including AI and data science. The University of Caxias do Sul and federal institutions UFFS and IFRS launched new AI degree and specialisation programmes.
