Colorado published a K-12 AI Skills Progression Guide in August 2025, aligned with state computer science standards and grade-level expectations for AI literacy. The guide follows the 2024 statewide Roadmap for AI in K-12 Education, which called for rethinking classroom models and encouraged districts to adopt local policies on AI procurement, data use, and acceptable use. Both the roadmap and the progression guide remain non-binding guidance for local school districts rather than a statewide AI literacy mandate. Colorado’s approach places it alongside other guidance-led states rather than the Idaho or Ohio cohort pursuing formal mandates during the 2026 legislative session.
