Following the completion of initial teacher training in summer 2025 (100,000 teachers), the Ministry of Education announced a scale-up through a partnership with Sharif University of Technology. Over a four-month period beginning March 2026, an additional 200,000 teachers will receive AI sector training through in-person and virtual courses coordinated with Sharif University.
In parallel, 40,000 teachers in Tehran and Mashhad have already completed in-person and virtual AI training courses. This represents a substantial expansion of the teacher training mandate, moving from the initial 100,000 to a cumulative target of 300,000+ teachers nationally.
Scoring note: Dimension 4 (Teacher training mandated) is reinforced by the scale and formality of this structured programme with a major research university, demonstrating sustained government commitment to training a significant portion of the national teaching workforce in AI competencies.
