Interactive AI Guidance Toolkit Released by Maine Department of Education

In February 2025, Maine’s Department of Education Office of Teaching and Learning published an interactive AI Guidance Toolkit for educators. This comprehensive resource offers practical tools, real-world scenarios, and ongoing learning opportunities grounded in digital citizenship and computer science foundations.

The toolkit is designed to support educators in integrating AI responsibly and effectively across pre-K through 12th grade, addressing the question of how schools can incorporate AI literacy and tool use while maintaining ethical and educational standards. The resource is freely available to all Maine educators and districts.

This represents Maine’s primary state-level contribution to AI literacy infrastructure in schools, offering guidance and support without imposing binding curriculum mandates.

Scoring note: Dimension 1 (curriculum exists) scores 1 for voluntary guidance. Dimension 13 (free/publicly funded resources) scores 1 for the free toolkit available to all educators.
