The Nebraska Library Commission provides AI literacy resources for K-12 students and educators, including AI & Ethics curriculum materials adapted from MIT Media Lab and MIT AI Literacy Units. These resources support voluntary implementation of AI education across Nebraska schools without requiring a statewide curriculum mandate.

Schools are independently drafting guidelines that distinguish between appropriate AI support for learning (such as tutoring and research assistance) and misuse (plagiarism and automated cheating). Nebraska lawmakers signed bills aimed at shielding children from harmful AI-generated material and curbing the tool’s misuse in school settings, with educators developing guidance on how students should acknowledge AI assistance in assignments.

Scoring note: Dimension 1 (partial AI literacy curriculum guidance) scores 1 for voluntary resources available through the state library system. Dimension 13 (free/publicly funded AI literacy resources) scores 1 for free access to MIT-developed AI curriculum materials through the Nebraska Library Commission.
