France formally launches mandatory Pix IA pathways for 1.5 million students from February 2026

By ministerial circular published 5 February 2026 (BO Hebdo n°6, MENE2527173N), France formally mandated Pix IA pathways for students in 4e (8th grade), 2de générale (10th grade), and 1ère année CAP, reaching approximately 1.5 million students in public and private-under-contract schools. Each Pix IA pathway lasts 30–45 minutes and includes a diagnostic assessment followed by personalised micro-learning modules on: using generative AI effectively, how AI systems function, AI limitations and biases, data governance, and environmental impact. The Ministry also announced creation of a “comité d’anticipation en éducation” to advise on emerging AI trends in education. The programme is delivered through France’s existing Pix digital skills infrastructure (free, publicly funded) and is supported under France 2030 as part of its real-world demonstration projects. This confirms full implementation of the mandate announced in 2025 and extends coverage to 1.5 million students.
