Since mid-February 2026, the AI chatbot “telli” has been available to all schools in Niedersachsen through the Niedersächsische Bildungscloud (NBC). Telli is a free, data-protection-compliant AI chatbot interface developed by the FWU media institute under the DigitalPakt Schule framework, which provides state-subsidised access to large language models for pedagogical use. Teachers can use telli to create learning scenarios and fictional dialogue partners tailored to their instruction. Schools from Niedersachsen placed 1st (Friedensschule Osnabrück) and 3rd (Ernst-Reuter-Schule Pattensen) in the 2025 KI-Schulpreis national AI school prize, indicating active AI integration. Telli is provided free of charge to all school staff and students in Niedersachsen through existing DigitalPakt funding; no separate state AI curriculum mandate exists.
