In February 2026, the Rhineland-Palatinate State Ministry of Education decided to extend its state licence for the “fobizz” AI platform, which was due to expire in summer 2026. Through the fobizz state licence — in place since 2024 — all school staff, teacher training seminaries, and the Pedagogical State Institute (PL) in Rhineland-Palatinate have free access to AI applications including GPT-4, Claude Sonnet 3.5, Mistral AI, DALL-E, and Stable Diffusion XL. Rhineland-Palatinate opted for fobizz instead of telli; its school, Carl-Orff-Grundschule Wiesbach, placed 2nd in the 2025 national KI-Schulpreis. The extension confirms ongoing state-level commitment to providing free AI literacy tools for educators; no binding AI curriculum mandate exists.
