The West Virginia Department of Education released updated AI Guidance v1.2 for PK-12 schools, a non-binding framework supporting the safe and effective integration of AI and generative AI technologies across classroom instruction, school administration, and district operations. The WVDE has developed a Canvas resource hub providing regularly updated materials for county districts and educators. The guidance addresses use by superintendents, district staff, educators, and support staff. WVDE describes the initiative as demonstrating “proactive preparedness” for the modern workforce. No binding legislative requirement or dedicated funding for AI curriculum exists at the state level as of April 2026.
