The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) released “AI Guidance for Enhancing K-12 and Library Education,” a non-binding advisory document outlining policy considerations and best practices for AI use in K-12 classrooms and libraries. The guidance is maintained by the DPI Division for Academic Excellence and is updated as AI use in schools evolves. Wisconsin’s Governor’s Task Force on Workforce and Artificial Intelligence completed its work and published a broad advisory action plan in July 2024, recommending increased investment in AI education, workforce development, and digital infrastructure. No binding AI education legislation is pending in the Wisconsin legislature as of April 2026.
