Saarland has introduced the telli AI chatbot at all schools in the state, providing for the first time a data-protection-compliant, free AI tool to all teachers and students. The rollout was highlighted during Saarland’s “Woche der digitalen Bildung 2026” (Digital Education Week) in March 2026. Teachers can use telli to adapt teaching materials for different learning levels, create structured explanations and assignments, and ease administrative tasks. Students access telli in a pseudonymised framework via EU-hosted servers. The provision is publicly funded through state education infrastructure; it does not constitute a binding AI literacy curriculum mandate.
