More than 200 Sicilian school institutions have joined the Rete IA Sicilia, a regional network integrating artificial intelligence into teaching and learning with a focus on inclusive education. The alliance was formally presented at events in Palermo and Catania, supported by Google Italia and financed through PNRR funds. Member schools share practices for AI-assisted didactics, access training resources, and benefit from the national PNRR snodi formativi programme (DM 219/2025, €100M envelope) which reserves 40 percent of funding for Southern Italy — making Sicilian schools among the primary beneficiaries. Access to AI tools and training resources via PNRR is free for participating public schools; the network represents a publicly funded AI literacy and access initiative at the regional level.
