Singapore’s 2026 Committee of Supply (COS) deliberations prioritise driving companies and workers towards AI literacy as part of the national AI transformation agenda. The government commits to helping Singaporeans acquire new AI skills, adapt to new roles, and use AI as a tool for workplace productivity and effectiveness.
AI training initiatives are progressively rolling out from March 2026. The government will provide Singaporeans taking selected AI training courses with six months of free access to premium AI tools to allow them to practise, experiment, and apply what they have learnt.
Who it affects: Workers across all sectors; companies of all sizes, particularly SMEs; employers participating in government-supported training schemes.
What is notably missing: Binding employer training obligations (framed as support and incentives rather than requirements); no explicit enforcement mechanism; unclear which training is mandatory versus voluntary; worker representation in training design or ethics governance.
