India’s Union Budget 2026 allocated INR 250 crore for Centres of Excellence in AI and INR 100 crore for AI initiatives in education. The allocations represent dedicated funding attached to AI curriculum requirements, complementing the CBSE mandate for AI education from Classes 3 onwards. This is the first budget cycle in which AI education receives its own line items rather than being folded into broader digital skills programmes.
