Noord-Holland is home to the Amsterdam AI hub, one of the largest regional AI clusters in the Netherlands. The province hosts major AI research institutions including the University of Amsterdam and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, the latter hosting the AI for Education conference in October 2026 on bridging research and classroom implementation.

The National Education Lab AI (NOLAI), a collaboration between teachers, school leaders, academics, and industry, develops AI-enhanced educational innovations for primary and secondary education. VU Amsterdam contributes to NOLAI research. The Netherlands has no province-level AI education mandate; education policy is centralised at the national level.

Who it affects: Students and researchers at Amsterdam universities; primary and secondary schools participating in NOLAI projects.

What is notably missing: No provincial AI education mandate, workforce training obligation, or subnational governance body. Dutch education policy is national, not provincial.
