Slaskie voivodeship hosts EDIH-SILESIA, a European Digital Innovation Hub operational since September 2020, specialising in AI for robotisation and automation. The Upper Silesian-Zaglebie Metropolis (GZM) will be included in the updated national AI strategy list of leading AI development entities from January 2027, recognising the region’s emerging role in AI. The AiBA Conference 2026 in Katowice, held in a repurposed coal mine, symbolises the region’s industrial transition toward technology and AI. Silesian University of Technology and local IT employers contribute to workforce development.

No Slaskie-specific AI education mandate or workforce training obligation exists at the voivodeship level.

Who it affects: Enterprises in the Katowice metropolitan area seeking AI adoption support through EDIH; students at Silesian University of Technology.

What is notably missing: No subnational AI education policy, teacher training programme, or workforce training mandate. All AI policy operates at the national level.
