IOE and Association of Tanzania Employers launch AI Xcelerate workforce training programme

The International Organisation of Employers (IOE), in partnership with the Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE), officially launched the AI Xcelerate Training Programme in Tanzania in February 2026. The programme, led by ATE CEO Suzanne Ndomba, provides structured AI training for enterprise managers and workers — particularly small and medium-sized enterprises — covering AI understanding, managerial capability development, and practical AI tools for productivity and resilience. AI Xcelerate is an IOE-led global initiative powered by Microsoft AI fluency training content. While the programme is employer-organisation-driven rather than government-mandated, it represents the most significant structured AI workforce training initiative currently active in Tanzania. Success is measured by number of enterprises equipped, not discussions held. Separately, Tanzania is reportedly preparing a revised national AI guideline and expanding AI training infrastructure through the University of Dodoma (UDOM) AI lab.
