Google officially broke ground on its landmark AI hub in Visakhapatnam (Vizag), Andhra Pradesh on 28 April 2026, representing a $15 billion investment to establish gigawatt-scale AI compute infrastructure in partnership with AdaniConneX and Nxtra by Airtel. The hub integrates multiple data centre campuses with power and connectivity infrastructure, including international subsea cable landings, positioning Vizag as a major AI infrastructure corridor. Google is partnering with ICT Academy to train 1,200+ local students and educators in cloud computing and generative AI, and the project prioritises local-first procurement to integrate SMEs into Google’s operational frameworks. This represents transformational digital infrastructure investment in Andhra Pradesh, directly supporting AI access and workforce development capacity in the region.
