The Nuevo León state Congress passed a new Education Law announced on 28 April 2026 at Innova Fest that positions the state as a pioneer in AI integration within the basic and upper-secondary school system. The law establishes mandatory teacher training and pedagogical design aligned with new technologies, including artificial intelligence, as one of its central pillars. Implementation is set to begin in August 2026 at the start of the next school year, with a maximum 180-day window for full compliance. This is the first state-level education law in Mexico to make AI integration and teacher training a statutory requirement rather than a voluntary programme.
