Länsstyrelsen Värmland: Free Public Webinar on Gender and Racism in AI (May 2026)

ethicsliteracygovernancepublic-awareness

Länsstyrelsen Värmland (the County Administrative Board of Värmland) is hosting a free public webinar titled “Kön och rasism inom AI” (Gender and Racism in AI) on 27 May 2026. The webinar is part of a national series run jointly by county administrative boards as part of their equality and anti-discrimination mandates.

Content: The webinar addresses how AI systems, despite being presented as neutral and objective, can reproduce and amplify existing inequalities when trained on data reflecting historical power imbalances. Specific attention is given to how gendered racism can affect AI outcomes in recruitment, credit assessment, welfare decisions, and surveillance.

Relevance: This is a county-level, publicly organised event freely available to residents and professionals in Värmland. The event demonstrates that the county administrative board is actively disseminating AI literacy content — specifically around bias and ethics — to the general public.

What is notably missing: This is a single webinar event rather than a sustained AI literacy programme. There is no indication of recordings being made available post-event, or of any follow-up structured curriculum delivered by Länsstyrelsen Värmland.
